Cambridge University Baroque Ensemble and Emmanuel College Music Society are pleased to announce their upcoming collaboration ‘Mêler l’Or de Ses Rayons: Two Operas for the Sun-King’ to be performed on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th April in Emmanuel College Chapel.
This exciting operatic double bill, which will be fully staged, will include the prologue from Elizabeth Jaquet de la Guerre’s ‘Céphale et Procris’, which has been little performed to date, and will be performed from a newly made edition, coupled with Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s ‘Les arts florissants’.
SINGERS will receive coaching from French baroque specialist James Halliday in French declamation.
AUDITIONS will be held on Friday 22nd February. To apply, please fill in this form. Please indicate with your application which role/roles you are interested in, and whether you would like to sing only/additionally in the chorus.
INSTRUMENTALISTS: We are interested in hearing from people who would like to be involved who play the following instruments baroque violin/viola, bass viol, violone, baroque flute/recorder, baroque oboe, harpsichord. Modern string players who would be interested in being involved can also contact us and we can see what can be done!
